Designed to Worship: Thanksgiving as a Heart Response to Our Good Creator

Nov 23, 2025    Pastor Andrew Browder

At its core, this message confronts us with a profound truth: we are all worshipers by design. The question isn't whether we'll worship, but what we'll worship. Drawing from Psalm 100, we're challenged to examine where our true allegiance lies—whether it's our careers, relationships, bank accounts, or the one true God who created us. The passage calls everyone everywhere to 'shout triumphantly to the Lord,' not just on mountaintop moments, but in valleys too. This isn't about Sunday morning performances; it's about heart transformation. When we acknowledge that Yahweh alone is God—the Creator who wove us together in our mother's womb—we find freedom from the bondage of self-sufficiency and worldly gods. The beautiful imagery of God as our Shepherd reminds us that He walks before us through hardships, prepares the way, and never leaves our side. Our worship, then, becomes a song of freedom that calls others out of their own captivity. Like Harriet Tubman singing 'Wade in the Water' to guide slaves to freedom, our lives should be melodies that lead others to the liberating truth that we are His sheep, His people, loved by a Father who is compassionate, gracious, and abounding in faithful love forever.
