True Love Is a Who: Displaying God's Love to the World

Dec 21, 2025    Pastor Andrew Browder

This powerful message takes us deep into 1 John 4 to explore a revolutionary truth: love is not merely an action or emotion, but a Person. We discover that God Himself is love, and that every genuine expression of love flows from Him. The sermon walks us through the beautiful connection between God's love demonstrated in Christ's incarnation and our calling to display that same love to the world. We're reminded that we cannot love rightly unless we're connected to the Source of love Himself. The passage in Exodus 34 reveals God's character as both merciful and just, showing us that His love doesn't ignore sin but rather provides the way through it. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger, God's love became visible, tangible, and accessible. But the story doesn't end there. The cross becomes the ultimate expression of this love, where Jesus said 'It is finished' and gave up His spirit. Now we, as believers filled with God's Spirit, are called to be the visible manifestation of His invisible presence. The world cannot see God directly, but they can see His love flowing through us as we love one another through disagreements, hardships, and differences. This isn't optional; it's our obligation and privilege. When we pour out God's love to each other and to the lost world around us, His love is made complete in us, and we become the witnesses He intended us to be.
