Reoriented: Making Jesus the Center of Gravity in Your Life

Drawing on the imagery of physical center of gravity, this sermon challenges believers not merely to add Jesus to their existing lives but to allow the gospel to fundamentally reorient everything around him. Using Acts 2:37-47 as its anchor, the message traces how the early church experienced a radical reorientation of allegiance, awe, devotion, and daily life through the gospel. Just as the Jewish believers in Acts 2 were not blank slates but had existing beliefs and practices that needed to be reorganized around Jesus, so too do modern believers carry habits, relationships, and values that must be brought into orbit around Christ. The sermon introduces four areas of devoted life -- teaching, fellowship, remembrance, and prayer -- as hooks for a multi-week series, framing each not as religious obligations to perform but as expressions of a heart genuinely captured by the worthiness of God. The natural outflow of this reorientation is a community marked by generosity, joy, togetherness, and outward movement that brings glory to God and draws others to him.
